Abstract
Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of severe lower respiratory tract disease. Aim of the study: To assess Nursing Knowledge about Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Emergency Unit. Research design: A descriptive exploratory research design was adopted to conduct this study. Setting: The study was conducted in Emergency departments at Assiut University and Chest Hospital at Assiut. Sample: Convenient sample consisted of 28 participants were included in the study. Tool: Nurses Knowledge assessment Questionnaire, this tool consists of 2 parts: Part 1: Emergency nurse’s sociodemographic data. Part 2: Emergency Nurse’s knowledge of RSV include 30 questions 15 multiple choice question (MCQ) and 15 (True or False) question on RSV. Results: The results showed that (68%) of studied nurses were having good level of knowledge regarding respiratory syncytial virus. Conclusion: The majority of nurses of critical care had good knowledge about respiratory syncytial virus in emergency unit. Recommendation Performing scientific research concentrated on Respiratory Syncytial virus in emergency units at Egypt and to give different findings. Preparing training programs for emergency nurses to inform them more about Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
